how to make it

Hard boil the eggs in advance (although still-warm is great - about half an hour before if you have the time).

Cook the pasta (any type will do, though I like the way spirals catch the dressing) while you're chopping the rest of the salad ingredients.

Put everything in a bowl just before the pasta's ready. Add the hot pasta to the top of the salad and scoop equal parts pesto and mayo on the top, squirt in the lemon juice and stir the whole bowl through so it's well mixed.

Serve immediately.
